Default New garage addition

It took a long time (all of 2020) but the 24x28 addition to my garage is worthwhile. It's main purpose is warm storage of the snowplow tractor- trudging out to the barn in a snowstorm to start a cold antique tractor wasn't fun. And before the new space gets cluttered, we're enjoying it- comfy for music jams, indoor croquet, etc.

That is awesome Jack!

It might sound sick, but I enjoyed doing my building addition almost as much as I enjoy restoring a car! Caution the addition will fill up quickly!

God bless

I had Yellow Fever for about 10 years, fantastic little machines. Most of them about 50 years old and still working.

My snow plow is a C20 Massey Ferguson tractor. The unistrut you can see at the front is a brush guard that keeps the multiflora rose off of me when brush hogging. I built the cabin with plywood and .2 Plexiglas. A little rope and the shipping blankets bring the warm air from the radiator back to the cabin while I am plowing. I can stay warm while plowing my driveway, the sister-in-law's, and the church parking log.

That's nice a garage. I'm going to pour my floor this year been saving $ for radiant heat tubing and rigid insulation for under concrete. Geez concrete around here is upwards of $140 a yard.

Love it, I like the music space! And have never thought about croq........ whatever it is, in a garage before. I bet those balls really move!

77canam, I have an old cub that is on my resto to do list, if and when I get the 79 finished. Its a 1970 model Pop bought new. I cut many a lawn with it as a kid, also took out the front end of his Grandville

This works great if you have the snow. 50" blower sure makes it disappear fast. Haven't used it for a few years as we don't get enough snow. Orange is good.

Dang Gary, That thing is pretty close to being awsome! May get to break it out later today. My poor old snow blower is 2 leg drive.

I agree. I have three at the moment, with possibly more to come! All are similar and built between the 1985-1989 timeframe. I'm definitely going to be in the market for an original IH yard trailer this year.

Don't want to hijack but, I had a 1973 1750, with blower, and mower, and a 67 123 manual with deck. Differentials were bigger than your typical modern PU truck. Was on the Cub Cadet forum for many years.

I’m surprised you don’t use your BX2200 for snow removal Johnny. I use mine with the FEL and a 48” blade on the 3 point.
Have you ever had a chance to compare? My son in law bought a similar Cub as yours and was contemplating a plow but I told him I didn’t think the Cub had enough to weight and traction to push more than a few inches of heavy wet snow (seems that the kind of snow we usually get). Looks like I was wrong?

My Cub weighs 800lbs empty without deck or blade. I have no issue moving 8" of wet snow, or over a foot of the fluffy stuff on flat surface. At the moment I do not have additional wheel weights or chains, since I haven't needed them.

I have running a 100,147,1650. Others need carb work 126 with splitter 129,149. I remember my first Cub tried to change a tire with a 2x4 under differential,I couldnt now use a floor jack.

Garage addition looks really nice, dry and warm. Just what you need for the cold. Curious what type of music you enjoy playing ? I am prepared to be surprised.

Nice addition! Mine is about 60% complete but unfortunately, temporarily stopped due to a broken foot from a ladder that collapsed. The fall wasn't bad...it was that sudden stop! Should be back at it in a couple weeks after the cast comes off.

Oh yes, the BX2200 is the snow machine, big front mounted blower on it, cab, heat. Sold the Yellow machines, hated to do it but was running out of room. Problem with the 1750 was the thrower was single stage, just didn't cut it in heavy snow. I hung about 300 lbs on the back and used chains, had pretty good traction. The BX is great, just came in from clearing 6" on my place and two of the neighbors and 1/4 mile of road .... evidently the town plow had an accident or something ... still hasn't come by.
