The anodized reveal trim on the doors and side window frame of '71 LeMans 2door Coupe is STANDARD equipment on that model. Same deal in '72 on the LeMans 2 door Coupe.

On a '70 1/2 T-37 Coupe or a '71 T-37 Coupe, the window frame reveal trim was OPTIONAL, and seldom ordered. Personally, I've always seen the anodized reveal trim as garish looking on the T-37 Coupes. Conversely, the slightly upper trim level LeMans Coupe had more flashy shiny trim on it and the reveal mldgs fit in, sometimes to a much higher degree, depending on exterior color combination.

Thanks for info on the trim! I agree it looks good with certain color combos as well. Makes sense that the stripped down T-37's would have that optional. Rocker panel moldings must have been optional on the T-37's as well. Very interesting!

Yep, my '71 T-37 was not equipped with wheel well trim or rocker panel trim, so I kept it that way. No trim rings on the 15" Rally IIs either, Judge-style

On my '71 T-37 HO post car, the window frames are cardinal red, body color. Does have the optional polished drip rail molding, but no wheel opening moldings, no rocker mldg, or reveal molding.

On the '72 400 4spd Coupe, I picked up in '13, it originally had the reveal trim, but previous owner took it off because a few pieces were scratched deeply... I have an extra '72 Coupe door with the reveal trim, along with extra pieces of pillar trim, will eventually get it back to as originally built.

That's sure is one great looking LG '71 you have there, Eric.

I give credit where it's due, Eric.

By the way, off topic here, but have you run it down the 1/4 with it's current powertrain? Looks like it should fly!

BTW - great gear choice (3.31) for a street 455, IMO!

I built it this way after reading an article in HPP about 20 years ago about Jim Hand and his 455 '71 wagon. The article also featured a similarly-equipped '70 LeMans hardtop if I recall correctly. At the time both cars were in the low 13s/high 12s and that sounded great to me. I was in my 20s and had done a little dragracing, and thought I'd run this car at the track from time to time. Built it as an automatic just as they did. Got lucky and sourced a 3.31 12-bolt out of a '72 455 HO GTO, added the Eaton posi.

I spoke with Dan Jensen about 10 years ago and described my configuration...he said it should be faster than his Pure Drags-prepped T-37!

Fast forward to today, I'm in my 40s and have two kids...I have never once put this car on a drag strip! I often wish I had built it as a 4-speed now. If this TH400 ever grenades, and I doubt it will, I will convert it to stick. Until then...we cruise to Jimmie Cone for ice cream

I like it! Alot of times the wheels make the car and yours looks awesome with the trim ring delete! I've considered taking mine off but not sure how that would look with all the chrome every where else.

My car originally was equipped with the custom wheel covers so somewhere down the line someone added Rallys, which is fine with me! I think I will be swapping out the center caps for PMD's too.
