As stated.

Exports had Kilo as early as 1970
PY member Kenth - or one of his friends - owns a 1970 GTO Kilo Speedo car.
Its even listed out on the Buildsheet .

That is the earliest example I can think of right now.

By export , I mean to another continent.
Canada was MPH in those days , as posted by nas t eh

There are some pictures of a 69 GTO sold new in France on Pinterest I believe. It has a 200kmh speedo and is obviously stock. Also seen a European 69 F-Bird with a 260kmh speedo. There was a 69 Fullsize Pontiac standard cluster for sale on eBay last year with metric speedo, it even had a metric specific part number printed on a corner of the face (that is not visible once installed).

This sounds like a real unicorn to find.

There are speedo adapters made that will convert MPH to KPH, not sure if it will clear the crossmember

But I can't access my files

I don´t know if Hakansan is reading this and can post a picture or two but his 1970 RAIV GTO was sold new in Sweden and has the metric speedometer.

For my 1970 Judge i found a 1970 LeMans, sold new in Sweden, now donor car i got a metric speedo with the speed warning option from and is now mounted in my car. I will post a picture of it soon.

Thank you, Kenth - that confirms that Pontiac simply used the same drive head and a different face. I have a spare 120mph unit, so the choice is:

Use the 120 unit with a printed overlay in Km but will require pulling the dash

or

Use a step up adapter at the transmission and keep the same unit in the dash.

or

Set up a Speedhut electronic unit

These pics were on the net many years ago. A 69 GTO sold new in France. Interestingly it has a Firebird style speedo faceplate (with the double circle lines and perpendicular partitions). Also it makes sense it is Firebird based because 260 km per hour is the same as 160 MPH. A GTO-LeMans type 120 mph speedo would read 200 km's not 260. Maybe all GTO's, Firebirds and Grand Prix's in Europe received the Firebird spec 160 MPH (260 km) speedo?

I could see GM doing this - but it would be just as easy to do a metric face like Kenth's on an A speedo head.

The easiest way for me is the adapter, but I do not think the cable will clear the crossmember from the TKX unless it is an angle mount.

It will have to wait till I get all moved...
