Default Dash speaker 69 GP

Does anyone know what size the dash speaker in the 1969 Grand Prix is? There is only one speaker in the dash and it is located in the center of the dash. I have the dash out right now and would like to replace the original speaker with a new one.

EDIT: I just checked the illustrations in the 69 Service Manual; looks like the Grand Prix does NOT use the same 4 X 10 speaker as the Tempest.
Can't tell the speaker size from the pictures I've got. Sorry...

If it's the same as the Tempest/LeMans/GTO and most other GM cars of the period, it is the Delco 4 X 10 with the special frame.

If you're using the original radio use a 10 ohm speaker or you'll fry the radio.

These guys (Electro-Tech Services) make an exact replacement:

It is a 4 x 10, 10 ohm as stated above. A replacement speaker will need to have a shallow magnet to clear the heater controls. You can also have your original restored.

I recently fitted dvc speakers front and back in the factory positions in my 64 GP. Centre of dash and centre of rear seats. Very happy with them. Got them here:

Have your original re-coned. Did my '66 GTO 4x10 and it's perfect. They charged me around $40, I think. Orban Audio, and they have the correct 10-ohm voice coils: http://www.orbanaudiospeakerrepair.c.../shop/Home.htm

The use of a 10ohm speaker is not maddatory to keep the radio from frying. I've use the duel speaker in my dash for over 20+ years & it is a 3.5 ohm speaker set up & my rear speaker are 5ohm speakers which are 6X9's in the original spots. I've upgraded those a few times & have never hurt the radio. I am a firm beliver that the reason delco want the 10ohm speakers is that they have the lock on those speakers because most all 6X9's now days are 5ohm & they want the business.
