Thunder road/ covan's classic center gauge panel
Anybody install one of these center gauge panels for a 67/68 firebird? It doesn't have any method to engage the factory bracket at the top of the panel. Looking to accomplish the installation without fasteners in the top of the panel.
I have some great 3m double sided tape to use as a last resort or to bond a bracket to the panel to engage the factory bracket. The stuff used for bonding windows in high rise buildings. Just a thought. |

I used one on the 79 Camaro/IA project. Fit was fair I had to trim edges to fit in the opening. The holes to locate were not exactly lined up. Then there were no screws in the middle. I located the screw holes for the cluster mounting and used a long screw through the dash to it. I also used some aluminum behind to stiffen it up,as well as some engine turned aluminum in front to look more like a TA as wewll as stiffen it.

I spoke to thunder classics about the install. They said "we'll that's pretty much for race cars so they just run some screws through it". I told him I was trying to mount like factory and we talked about a couple ideas, he said when u figure it out email us some photos.
So got a little work ahead plan on epoxy inch a metal flange to engage the factory bracket. I post some pics when done, |
