Default 69 428 Block/crank for sale

I have a 69 "YH" 428 block and crank. Block is standard bore now but will need to go +.030 from sitting around and now has some surface rust. Caps and bolts are there. All freeze plugs have been removed. Crank has same issue with surface rust. Might polish out but just assume it will need turned. It's currently .010 on rods/std on mains. Asking $600 and I would prefer you pick up. I don't really want to ship this.

Had a lot of interest, just waiting on first one with $$. This might sweeten the deal a little. I have a 1975 400 complete engine (minus carb) that is locked up. Buy the 428 and i'll sell you the 400 for $100. You can use the timing cover, oil pan, etc. plus it has 6x heads.

That's a deal at $450 I just paid $240 for a 428 crank alone. It was checked and polished by a machine shop but still.

I'd pick this up if I was closer.

All 428's were drilled for 4-bolts, but the 69 "YH" Bonneville motor was the only 428 that came from the factory with 2-bolt main caps. 2-bolt caps and bolts are there.

I have not magged them. The guy I purchased them from worked at a school that has all of the equipment to do so, and he was planning on building this one but has decided to go the LS route. I would assume he magged them but it's been so long he doesn't remember.

I haven't known anyone with a 428, with the 6X heads from the 400 and the right cam what kind of power would it make? I know that's a very hard to question to answer but with standard machining and the right components(intake, carb, headers etc..) while sticking to a budget rebuild roughly where would you be? It's a 7 hour drive for me but if I could build a powerful enough motor for a really good price I would have to make the trip.

That is a very tough question to answer. Everyone has a different version of a "budget" build. You could make it very mild on a very modest budget and produce 350-375hp with about 450 ft. lbs. of torque....or you could spend some more money and easily produce 450-500hp and tons of torque. Or you could always just use the 400 for the covers (tc, oil pan, valley pan, etc.), and sell the heads for $100-$150 and buy some higher compression heads.

I have the latest Desktop Dyno and have built an engine based upon a .030 over 428 block like this one will be, and have plugged in a number of variations over the years to see what the program says. Here is one variation using components you see come up for sale on this site somewhat regularly. 12cc Badger or TRW type cast dished pistons, Crane h296-2 cam (their RAIV, everyone makes one and they are sold on here all the time), 7h1 heads which have an 80cc combustion chamber (sometimes people will give them to you). Build the motor on the above, put headers on it and an offy dual quad setup with two 600cfm AFBs, and Desktop Dyno says it will make 456hp @ 5500rpm and 495ft.lbs. @ 4000rpm.

I meant to say it above but forgot, the 12cc dish and 80cc combustion chamber with a zero deck will give you right at 9.5cr so you can run on pump gas.

I've got one guy willing to come get it, but for real cheap. Last bump before I "give" it away.

$400 would take it (428 block/crank) or $500 with the complete, locked-up 400.

I am out of the country until the 2nd week of March, but if you are willing to hang onto it until then I am willing to give you $450 for everything. Let me know hopefully we can work something out.

Thanks for the offer but $500 for everything is my bottom dollar.
