Default $#*$& 67 Wagon Back Window

So had my 67 tempest wagon redone and somehow the rear window switch was removed and I cannot get the damn window down. I have both the shop and body manual but they do not go into about the switch. I have no clue what wires up under the dash might allow me to simulate the window switch. The switch had an up and down so shouldnt there be some sort of relay or something under the dash? I just dont know the wires/relay I should be looking for. Anyone have a color coded wiring diagram for 67 wagon? So frustrating.

There should be a manual override on these things. I can disengage the lever holding the tailgate in place but since window is up... something must be there to stop it from unlocking as a safety precaution. If i could even override that... would be great help.

thanks kevin

Page 12-15 in the manual shows a Safety switch connector ? (White w/green stripe)
Not sure if you bypass it, it may release ?
I would think if you can use some clipon type jumper wire and bypass the switch you should be able to power it down. Unless the motor is what might have gone bad?

Which manual are you lookiing at?

where is this safety switch connector..in the tailgate?

Do you see anything about the switch that is to be on the dash? I see no reference to it at all.

thanks kevin

i actually rewired everything thanks to your diagram. i still have not found the correct wires under the dash which i should. i understand the wiring in the tailgate itself but trying to figure out which wires operated the little switch on the dash. i may just rerun everything as i have a 3 way switch.

Anyone know if on a 67 fuse block there is a terminal i can use that is hooked into the ignition start position? I have found where i can hook in a wire but it is always live without key. I want to make it hot when key is turned only.

" I want to make it hot when key is turned only"

my .02,
I don't recall a specific terminal that is hot only when the ignition switch is on.
but even if there is since you've rewired some of the circuit anyway consider:
1)it's a long run
2)the wires are old unless you replaced them all
3)the motor unless replaced is old as well
all of which mean increased voltage draw and...
4)you are adding additional voltage to a circuit that may not carry it.

you might consider using a relay and a separate fuse or circuit breaker. any small voltage from the ignition switch can activate the relay and power the circuit.

I put several large voltage draw accessories on separate relays for my 67 conv. they have a very long lifespan
