Default Trunk Divider for deluxe interior

My understanding was that deluxe interior Firebirds received a trunk divider that was tar paper with jute attached. Standard interior cars received just a divider that did not have jute.

I see Classic Industries has a divider with jute.

And another one with jute that is designated for deluxe interiors.

Anyone get what is going on? I see a 4th notch on the deluxe one, but the trapezoid shape has me scratching my head.

The bottom one is upside down, but correct. The two middle slots allow a better fit to the tunnel. The curved area let's it mesh well with the jute that is on the inner wheel houses to cut down on noise.
Neither are correct for a 1970 Bird.

Thanks Bruce. So is the bottom one more correct for the 71 and up Firebirds? Or is just a refinement from the original shape?

I wonder how much it will quiet cabin noise, especially if equipped with the transverse muffler. I will find out soon since I ordered the top one, since the bottom one was out of stock anyhow.

IF you Really want the noise and heat from that area reduced, I put the eastwood version of Dynamat over that whole area. Put the hard piece you ordered over it and cut the second slit in the bottom. It hands on the top seat hooks.

I figured I would bring this thread back up since I had a question that popped into my mind regarding the divider.
I was checking out an old post about the divider on a 70 Camaro and saw that it had cut outs that matched some of the metal panel cut outs. One of them was definitely for the rear defog (70 only) but there was another cutout next to it. Lots of talk about astro ventilation and factory cut holes. So was the divider cut out at the factory for these openings in the metal panel?

The link above is the post I was looking at.

Lets deal with some actual 1970 Firebird Pics. The nasty z pics are from the trunk.
This is a 1970 Firebird I took apart. These pics are from INSIDE where you can see the factory divider WITH
the rear defogger (RPO C50) Blower only style. 1970 Only

Bruce,

Thanks again. Based on the rectangular opening I would guess the factory cut the divider for ventilation purposes.

Correct, there Has to be a way for air to get out of cabin in volume to save ear drums on tighter cars. I covered my 72 with dynamat and rely on the b pillar vents / floor vents to vent the cabin when door closing.
