Default Need Factory 1970 Dash Harness for Gauges & Tach

I'm thinking about adding factory gauges/tach to my non-gauge/tach '70 Formula, so I am looking for a nice uncut original factory underdash wiring harness. i know it's a long shot, but I'm throwing it out there in PY-land to see if anyone might have one (I have the gauge/tach clusters already). I believe the 71-early 72 will work...however, not sure?

Thanks, Dennis

I converted two early Formulas from idiot lights to guages by modifying the original harness. You take a paper clip release a couple of the pins in the back of the connector, change them to the new location, and run a 12V supply wire to the small voltmenter pod. You will need to change your oil and temp senders. I think it only required one wire nut, which I think I either soldered and heat shrinked over, or encased in epoxy.

I know it's not original, but it certainly beat trying to replace an entire harness. If you find a shop manual and compare the pin-out for the 1970 Firebird with gauges vs the cluseter with idiot lights, you will see most of the connections are the same. The pins have a small tang that locks the pin into the connector housing when it is pushed in. If you use a paper clip or small ice pick type tool, you can depress the tang and slide the wire right out.

I drove a 73 Formula that I converted for over 200K miles, and never had a problem.

Hmm...I know you can do that on the A-body harness...I guess there is no reason you can't do the same to the F-body harness. Thanks for the idea! I'll research that a little deeper and I like the idea of not having to go through the swap hassle. Yes, I'll have to get new (repop) gauge sender units too.

' 70 gauges are easily spotted as they have a tiny flower pedal type clock knob thats black plastic.

FB, Yep, mine has the black 2-pc clock adjustment knob (so does my '71 Formula). The housing, speedo, and water temp/oil pressure gauges & printed circuit are '70, but the tach was replaced with a later 2-wire type. They did swap over the black clock knobs though...thankfully. Not sure if the date stamp (056 70)on the printed circuit is the 56th day of 1970, or 05-06-70? I'll be getting new repop lenses as these are scratched heavily.
