Default 67 GTO power trunk release

I am installing a power trunk release in my 67 GTO. Should the button release the trunk with the ignition in the run/acc position only or is lead under the dash going to one side of the switch in the glove box connected to a constant 12v hot lead?

Most all GM cars have the trunk release wired to hot all the time so you can open the trunk even if you forgot your keys in the house. In the mid 80's some of the cars went to a key on hot & by the lat 80's all GM cars were hot with key on only for theft reasons.

The originals utilized the Brown accessory lead to power.
I don't have the '67 Service manual handy to verify if that is a hot lead.
I think it is but check that and it will confirm.

In viewing the picture of the components it looks like the wire going to the switch is brown with a red multi connector on one end and a black single connector on the other. From what I have researched as well, this would indicate it connects to the double brown accessory dash harness lead with a single red connector.
The constant +12v dash harness lead is orange/black stripe with a black connector.

I understand the conveniences of having the switch wired "hot" all the time. So I may be guilty of being too concerned with "originallity".

Added one to my 67 two years ago and it was indicated (at that time) to be wired to a constant 12V source.

That way you can just reach in and pop the trunk to get to the beer and sandwiches. Makes sense.

This is a clip from the '67 Options cat showing the button just past the light hole.

I hate straying too far off topic, but...

There's A LOT going on in that pic below the glovebox.
Steering wheel. Horn button. Column to dash bezel.
And those options. Safeguard. Cruise. Tilt. AC. 8 track.
Kinda surprised they went with the "clock-delete".

I have the aftermarket trunk release and tossed the supplied switch. Wired it to be always hot and used a really small momentary-on switch hid well enough over on the driver's side that a thief would have a hard time spotting if they got into the interior. Just didn't make sense to me to have a constant on switch where they all are in the glove compartment - just too easy for a thief to gain access to the trunk contents. If I wired it where it was only on with the key then it would be easier to use the key in the trunk lock than stick the key in the ignition, open the glove box, and punch the button.
