Ran the vin through PHS today, no happy surprises like Tri-Power, or even Ralley 1s or Wood wheel.. Still Super stoked, & now I feel I can look at this project as a blank canvas, build it how I would have ordered it.. only time will tell 😁

You can find shoulder belts. Old Goat 67 and I bought ours out of Ontario Canada. I can't remember the name of the town but it was south of Ottawa.... a little town that I used to drive through when I lived up in Massena, NY and made a few trips up to Ottawa to visit the bars.

First parts acquisition for the 66'.. guess you can say I'm literally starting from the ground up.. scored a set of Rallye 1s, centers, trim rings, lug nuts & the radial redlines with under 500 miles on them for under a grand.. So far this holiday weekend is off to a great start !

Well... drug my goat to work lastnight.. went in this morning, tied her down & gave the left quarter a tug.. She move pretty easy, everything lines up much better,... BUT, I need a quarter... Whoever did the previous work should've taken some measurements before welding in the new skin. Car has been hit & the B-pillar was leaning in 1 5/8".. I figured the skin would buckle when I pulled it around, what I didn't expect was the old repair that let loose & tore near the top of the quarter where it meets the sail panel/C post.. oops.. So now my question to all you guys is, has anyone used one of the full quarters available for the 67 on a 66? Or am I about to be the guinea pig? Lol.. I'm sure I can't be the first, but who knows? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, sorry so long winded on this one !

Made some progress today, it's officially a frame off.. Need to repair or replace the left front "torque box" & repair the rear most body mount holes before it can go on the rotisserie. Anyone know if all 64-67 torque boxes are the same? Might have to see if any of my uncle's parts cars has a solid one.

Slow progress. Patched the rear body brace, & left front torque box and installed new cage nuts. Adapted the rotisserie I'm borrowing from my boss (Thanks Tom!) from a F-body configuration, to an A-body. Now on to the frame..

Looking great, Johnny, and great story. Glad to see you going after it with such enthusiasm! And yes, hopefully you can take the previous owners for a ride when it's all finished. That's great, great stuff.

Also luv seeing that '71 in the garage there too. Is that one next on the resto list?

Thanks Mister Pontiac! The 71' is my Cousin's. With baby #2 showing up 3 days ago, it may be awhile, but hopefully that's the next project we get to.

Made some decent progress on the frame this afternoon. Removed the cracked spring perches/shock mounts, & replaced the body mount perches & rear cross rail. Have to round up the spring perch sections, & and patch a couple front body mount holes, then strip the front suspension & get it blasted.

Johnny, do yourself a favor. Go with disc brakes up front while it's still apart. I'm in the process of changing over right now. I'll feel much better, and safer, when the discs are in and the drums are out.

The Goat is looking better and better al the time.

Greg, my first 66 GTO came with seat and shoulder belts from the factory. Was an option for the shoulder belts, but not for the seat belts from what I've been told. My stepdad's 64 Star Chief had seatbelts from the factory in it. Bought brand new in 64.

Thanks Gary! And yeah I've been looking at different kits, I I'd like to be able to run my stock 14" Ralley 1's, or possibly steelies with poverty caps. I've been considering the Scarebird kit, I like that it uses over the counter parts, and will fit the stock wheel. I know they won't stop as well as one of the bigger sized caliper and rotor kits, but should still be way better than the stock front drum setup. What are you using? Thanks again for the kind words!!!

I was going the get the kit from Scarebird but.... I bought the brackets and calipers from a guy here on PY. Metric but that's ok by me. I'm gathering the rest of the parts now. Easier for me this way as I have a buddy that runs an auto parts store that let's me put everything on my account. It's the only way I could do the conversion at this time.

Scarebird's kit is very reasonable but the one I checked into was for 15" wheels from them. I'd rather have 15' instead of 14s just because 15" tires are easier to come by, and less expensive than repo 14s. I like my BFG TA Radials.

The master cylinder I'm getting from http://www.ebay.com/itm/CPP-CAST-ALU...294933?vxp=mtr This is for manual and power brakes. Just in case I change my mind later on to go with power brakes. Won't happen if I can help it but at least I'd be ready without having to change it out for the switch over.

The Brake Proportioning Valve is SUM-760186 from Summit Racing.

Spent a few hours on the frame this morning. Patched up the three body mount holes that needed it. I had bought the frame repair washer kit from ames, but decided not to use them for a few reasons. First off the I.D. of the washers is quite a bit bigger than the lip on the body bushings. If I wanted a bigger hole, I could've just reamed the existing holes with a die grinder & carbide bit. Secondly, the washers are about twice as thick as the need to be, maybe I'm just being picky on that one, but didn't want it to be SUPER obvious that they had been repaired from underneath. Lastly I just felt I could be more accurate with the placement of the holes if I patched the frame & laid the holes out based on the frame dimensions. Hopefully I will get my spring pockets this week and will be able to weld them in next weekend. After that I will be able to strip the front suspension & send it to the blaster.

A little more progress. Sourced the spring pockets from a boneyard in Washington state. Had to remove them from their originsl frame section, they lined up very nicely. I ran a 3/8 drillbit through rivet holes in both the spring pocket plates & the crossmember as a 3/8 bolt was just barely too big to fit. I ran grade 8 3/8-16 bolts and nylon lock nuts rather than rivets, wasn't concerned about originality. That pretty much lined everything right up exactly where it needed to be. I took a few measurements, everything checked out. I had to weld up the shock mount holes on the left side, they were oblonged, laid them back out & refilled. I hope to get the front suspension and remaining lines removed over the holiday weekend & then it will be ready to go to the blaster. One thing I have realized during this frame repair, my welding skills are RUSTY! LOL
