Default Dealer Code/ Zone Help

Looking over a few of the PHS docs I have on a few of my cars, one of my 66's (NSS Car) has a Zone of 18 / 687 Dealer Code,

So Zone 18 is Atlanta, but the dealer 687 is in St Louis MO?

The State CD shows from 21 to 41. Which would be Michigan to Tennessee.

Confused as I have had the car since 1980. It had been sitting in a barn since 1970. I Bought it from the original owner who told me he bought the car new in GA.

Anyone have any thoughts?

How do you know the dealer is in St. Louis?
Have a name and address?

Have a pic of the BHC?
(or buildsheet?)

Did he live close to the TN/GA border?
Maybe he thought it was in GA but was just over the line in TN?

So it would fall towards the higher numbers.

Vincel is 723 and Thoms is 687, Gene Worn Pontiac is 777, so Warner could fit in there, but would have thought it would be before 777?

I was just going by the info you had posted earlier about Dealer Code 687 being Thoms Pontiac which is in St. Loius
I am not sure where he lived when purchased. When I bought it he lived near Snellville Ga which is about 200 miles from the TN/GA line.

Zone 12, dealer 687 is going to be different than zone 18, dealer 687 (which would probably start with an R).

OK was not aware that there could be same dealer number in different zones. Does anyone know what dealer is 687 in zone 18?

I don't have the dealer name, one reason I was hoping you had a name.

Dealer Codes

With the shipped to state code it could be (and probably is) in TN.
But there are cases of a dealer selling it to another dealer who sold it to a person. In later years the PHS could have 2 examples showing both.
Not sure it worked that way for billing cards though.

As Mike R. said it will probably start with a 'R' in name. No clue where though other than in the zone 18 areas.

I wonder if Sparta, TN was part of Zone 18, as there was a Edd Rogers Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick which started in 1961.

Called a guy today that used to work at Edd Rogers dealership in the 70's. He said he did not remember their code and the old man that owned the dealership died a few years ago and his sons run it. It looks like from digging around a little more Edd Rogers was Dealer 544,
So back to looking for dealer 687.

I still have not been able to find any info on dealer 687 in zone 18 despite years of looking.

FYI, the dealer codes for all the GM dealerships were different, i.e. if the same dealer had Pontiac, Buick, & GMC franchises, they would all three have different dealer codes. And IIRC the areas were different also.

Don't know why that section has gone dormant if a lot of the rest of the site is relatively active.
