Default OER brand interior rearview mirror failed

My original (1966 Tempest) rearview mirror is the 8" regular mirror, so I replaced it with the "GM approved" OEM brand reproduction 10" day/night mirror. It lasted a year. I have the front face held onto the main housing with a couple of elastic bands. The face was held on by a tiny bead of glue and it failed.

Thanks,

About 40 years ago, working at a Pontiac new car dealer, my mentor said, "new doesn't mean good". There is no truer statement especially in the reproduction car parts business.
