Default Inspection scope/borescope

Someone mentioned these in another thread and I got interested.

There are lots of options out there. There are some really expensive ones and some really inexpensive ones. Question is, for someone like me, who would rarely use it, are there any inexpensive ones that are decent, or do you have to spend big bucks?

I bought one off eBay that Bluetooth ties into the iPhone. It was about $20. Works pretty good in my
Opinion

Thanks. Do you have a brand or a link?

Do some reading on the specs of each one and find the features you like. I bought one for one of my android phones and was pretty happy with it, then a co-worker bought a similar one where the last (6"? 12"?) next to the camera were bendable and would hold the shape. Nice improvement over mine! None of my phones have that USB end any more, so it just sits; I need to buy a new one with USB-C or Bluetooth connectivity. There may be other useful features available now, too.

(Mine was an $18 deal of the day on Amazon - I don't even know if it had a brand name, but it worked great!)

Parts stores have these in their loan-a-tool programs if you don't want to own something that will rarely get used.

I bought a ryobi, one a long time ago. I use it a fair amount because I inspect the wings on my plane on the inside with it during annual inspections, the whole line is flexible . But it’s lens piece is fairly long. My buddies have some expensive ones that can see sideways in a cylinder very shallow in the plug hole , or even look back up to see valves etc they are really nice in comparison. But I’ve been pretty happy w mine for the use I’ve needed it for especially for the price . And I’ve maybe had to charge the battery twice in the whole time I’ve had it. Which I’d guess is at least 6 years or more .

Make sure the end of the cable is compact enough to fit through a spark-plug hole.

I saw some...Milwaukee?...units when I was in the market, the end of the optic cable was huge.

I also bought a low-end Depstech. Works well enough for what it cost. I doubt it would hold up to a lot of oil and gas fumes, abrasions, etc. but is great for occasional use.

Link to Depstech on Amazon

I used it recently to look for rust inside my gas tank:

I have a couple USB ones that connect to laptop, Work awesome. But you need a laptop to get close to what you want to inspect

This cheap Depstech one on Amazon is great. It has the normal forward facing camera and a second camera at a 90 degree angle. Great for looking into bores (and if you don’t have the 90 degree camera, it’s pretty impossible to get a good look through the spark plug hole).
