How about someone post some photos of the #96 high compression SD455 heads? Reportedly only 2 sets cast.

Default 455 SD block differences

I recently built two different SD engines for two different customers. The first was a 73' SD engine and I noted it didn't have the transfer lug on the back of the block by the distributor. I also own a 73' SD car and it's the same way. When I was building the 74' SD block I noticed it DID have the transfer lug. I was under the impression that all SD engines didn't have the transfer lug. Has anyone else ran into this?

What was the date code on the 74 block?
Most I have seen seem to have the pyramid after 1974 cast date.
(a lot of the 74 early year were still 1973 cast date)

Here is a list of some blocks I have a pic of (and a couple I don't have of the pyramid area):

N116xxx A093 no pyramid
N116xxx A093 no pyramid
N120xxx A093 no pyramid

N133xxx A093 no pic of pyramid area

N145xxx L203 no pic of pyramid area

N160xxx A094 pyramid

N169xxx A094 pyramid

I have only 1 March of 74 date code for an SD block in my database.

Default Transfer Lug

Just saw this info posted on facebook about the transfer lug and which blocks received it. Seems the 73 didn't and but the 74 did.

I hope this wakes up the forum a little. Seems some were worried it went dead.

https://www.pontiacv8.com/blog/2022/...320-k-camshaft

I have updated some info in my Thread but here is some info on a K code SD 455 cam I recently obtained from an SD 455 with a date Code E241 May 24th 1971.

I will keep you all posted when it all arrives in my hands.

Enjoy

Here is PHS and VIN for the above motor. This belonged to 1973 Grand Am.

VIN is 2H37X3P100039

Also a link to Rocky's Blog of a write up of previous owner and origins of the SD 455.
