Thanks J, that's huge. I'd think Pete McCarthy's sources are about as sound as you can get.
Safe to say I can verify my TA as being the only Van Nuys built 3spd . Man, you just made my millenium!

Interesting, mine was 035, which if I recall correctly was the second VN car going by VIN sequence #s.

PS I may be in Houston next week to see a client. PM if you're up for a visit.

How do you guys figure all this stuff out about these cars . Always impresses me the info that comes up on here about cars and options being rare or when in vin sequence etc.

Yep, the only options on mine are console & tint windshield. It does have a dealer installed hood tach though.

Ours was built with no console and steel wheels with hubcaps. It did come with the formula wheel with the wings down horn button. FWIW!

Do you mean that as in full size wheel disc covers ? Or as in the small poverty caps ?

Full size wheel disc covers could be another 1 of 1 factoid , if so .
only curious - fwiw

There was the actual standard hubcap (dogdish) or the nearly full (leaves 1/2” of the wheel showing) deluxe six spoke wheel cover. There was also the five spoke custom wheelcover that actually covered the whole wheel and lastly the wire wheelcover.

Many TA’s ended up with dogdish (probably in order to install aftermarket mags), I saw a PHS for a TA with wire wheel covers (a RAIV iirc) and I’ve seen a few with the deluxe wheel covers (mostly because the car was ordered with the decor group which included them. What I’ve never seen and give how rare they were on Firebirds in general I suspect there may never have been a TA built with were the Custom wheelcovers.

They were the deluxe wheel cover #9718045 with the 14x7 rims. I don't recall the code off hand.....XF maybe, but they are the ones that bring big $$$ today.

Those black 14x7 wheels were standard on all 69 Firebirds (except the 1bbl sixes) and all 69 GP’s (except manual steering) but today they are very popular with the Camaro crowd (these wheels were only on Z-28’s).

i believe that typically the XF wheels were for Chevrolet's;
The Pontiac code for the exact same wheel is IF.

The 14x7 Camaro wheel was usually XT,standard on SS cars. The IF wheel has been found on a few Camaro’s. The Z/28 used 15x7’s.

Now that would be an odd looking TA with those on it today.
Did your car have the Decor Group option that North mentioned included those covers ?
Or were the covers a stand-alone option ?
Thanks
