Default 66 389 2bbl. YA. vs YC. ???

Hi friends .. just looking for my 66 Star Chief Coupé for an engine and get offer for two low mileage 389

First 389 2bbl 256 Hp YA.regular fuel 8.6 compression

Second 389 2bbl YC 290 Hp 10.5 compression

What’s the best way to go ?
Have a 4bbl intake and Carter 4bbl in my shelf with a new 068 camshaft ..

What can you say about the little YA 389 ?? Was it available in an 66 Star Coupé with TH 400?

10.5 is actually closer to 10:1, and 8.6 is closer to 8:1. I'm thinking the 068 is going to be much happier in the YC? I suspect your decision will boil down to the very thing which separated these two right from the beginning - do you want to run regular fuel or premium?

I run 98 in Germany … i know the performance of my other 65 Bonneville with YE and 4bbl I’m using the Melling 068 and I’m absolute happy with this performance
If the YA can do similar performance with the low compr. I don’t know .. but it appears to share same short block ..
