Default Catalytic Converter Wanted

Can anyone tell me where I can find a NOS catalytic converter for my 1978 trans am? Part number is 6498393. I'd be interested in a good used as well. Thanks. Nick

Yes is the short answer. The one that was on the 1978 trans am from the factory. My knowledge about these is limited but I believe I have the correct AC Delco number posted above.

I apologize 3tas4me, I don't understand "PM" in your last post. If you meant PN as in Part number, here it is: Catalytic Converter # 6498393 I would be interested in the converter that you have. Nick

PM means private message. We can communicate phone numbers etc. without it being public. The link to your PM box is on the upper right in the little blue box where is says "Welcome". If you click on the "private message" link, you are taken to a separate part of the forum where you can send me a message and receive them. Hope that helps.

Mine is used, but in decent condition as my '79 is a W72 4-speed car with only about 50k miles. I had dual exhaust installed last summer but saved the converter/Ypipe assembly.

Bringing up an old thread.

I am also looking for an original catalytic converter for a 78/79 Trans Am.

If anyone has one or knows where I can find one, please send me a message.
