1500 for a 67 400 sitting a LONG time
One of my friends is the ultimate Pontiac man. You name it and he’s got it or can lay his hand on it running gear wise. Anyway I had a friend ask me to ask him about a 400. He said yeah I got 6, all stores inside. 3 are 67 HO GTO 400s that were pulled running and stored inside in an insulated but not climate controlled building since the 80s. They are not stuck and turn freely. Are they worth 1500 apiece?

I am a cheapskate , so would only pay that much if i had a 67 GTO and wanted a period corect engine to rebuild.

If they're complete from carb to pan and still have all the pulleys and brackets on the front...yes. A little on the "high end" but yes.

My view may not be shared by all here, but I would mostly view them as cores that will need to be rebuilt. Does your friend care that they are HO motors? Is he going to reuse the heads, intake, and rotating assembly, or does he basically just want a bare bock to build into his own vision?

They are complete from oil pan to air cleaner. He was thinking he would sell off the 67 parts and just use the block

My general philosophy is don't buy parts you don't need unless you absolutely must have something they are connected to. In this instance, it doesn't seem like your friend absolutely needs that particular engine block versus any other 400 donor block that can be found for less money as a bare block.

What ZGH said! I know I live in the sticks, so that makes it different but I’ve got a 400 short block & a bare block. I couldn’t get $300 out of either one. I guess as realtors say, location location location.

If it’s a engine that could be dropped in a car and used yes it’s worth it. If he’s getting it to rebuild it probably not. We sold a complete 68 wt 400 ready to use 3 years ago $1400.00 and we just bought one 68 ys engine disassembled for $800.00. If it’s a drop in engine it’s worth a little more always.

In all but one of those I simply offered to check on them for someone but stated a price I only ASKED if they were worth it once and expounded they were too rich for my blood at the time.

I've seen you mention the three '67 HOs many times but what about the other 3? He want the same money for those? Complete?

I'd pay $1500 for a good '67 WS block. Been casually looking for one for a project I have squirreled away...A would be ideal, but B or early C would work.
