Nice power level. Not record setting but 1050 is a lot of HP.

Timing cover, distributor hold down, bore spacing, valve cover gaskets.

What does that matter? It's a race engine...

I’m thinking that no matter what brand of engine you chose to run, when you get over 1000 HP, you’re pretty much all aftermarket parts.
This is the race section right?

Trying to learn here. Does the LSA of 117 seem high? Why would a LSA of 106-110 not
be more appropriate here? It works well.

Does not seem high to me for that application. I think Langer runs the same.
Very high compression and induction is very strong.

The better the heads, the higher the rpm equal wider lobe seperation.
My 1050hp 511ci ran 116ls and shifted at 8600-8700rpm

Which is why i said that. At that level, why would it matter that it DOESN'T have stock factory parts on it. Doesn't make it any less brand specific, which was my point.

106-110 work well on cylinder head limited and/or lower rpm applications. Properly designed ports for high rpm as well as bigger inches require valve events that equate to wide lobe separation angles for the rpm needed to make power.

So why not just go with a big inch Hemi and make custom billet aluminum valve covers with the name PONTIAC on them? Kinda like when Pontiac no longer made its own engines and used big block Chevies with Pro Stock "Pontiac" 427 heads. Remember those? That wasn't a Pontiac engine either, but some will say it was because the valve covers had "Pontiac" cast on them - same as my Hemi idea, and probably a much stronger running engine seeing it's a race engine.

Who in their right mind will call a engine a PONTIAC if the engine under the valve covers is not ? We will never have the power they do, not enough bore spacing.
People who race Pontiacs do it because they are Pontiac die hards.
My kinda folk.

Well then for that matter, why bother making ANYTHING aftermarket for Pontiac at all? It's that sort of thinking that prevents anything from evolving.. I guess next you'll say we should all be using iron heads and 041 cams.... nothing like going backwards, huh. Some of us don't live in that box labeled "50 year old technology", nor do we think that way either.
No offense, but your analogies are way off base and don't apply to the topic.
