What is the NGK replacement foe AC Delco's R43S plugs.

I use the XR5's to replace that number. Could step up to a 6 if you wish, a little colder.

I'd think 5 in NGK is substantially hotter than a 43?

Well, they don't specifically cross the heat ranges from what I've found. So I've had to get in the ballpark and experiment. A 6 might be closer....but hard to say..
Kinda have to pick and choose and see how it acts in the engine compared to the 43's.

The XR series though is the gasketed extended reach electrode in 13/16 size (big plug)

I understand it's not an exact science. I can only judge from experience. That being 6 is approximately in the range of a 44, but maybe slightly hotter. But close. Agreed experimentation will be needed with a change in brands.

Yeah, I wish there was a more accurate way to compare heat ranges between plugs. If there is a chart, I sure haven't found it yet. I've just had to experiment and read plugs the old fashion way. I don't know if there is an industry standard as to what the manufacture considers a hot or cold plug either when it comes to their numbering systems. They seem to vary a bit.

Thanks for the comedy. So your purchases are based off whether you like what they have done in the past or stand for, with no regard to quality of product.

I think you and I are on 2 completely different points. You missed mine entirely. I don't care about ethnic back rounds or how their governments work and certainly won't base my purchases off of that alone.

I hope purchasing with the very small competing market gets you what you're after.

I was going to take "Scott65" s advice and try the BKR6E but according to several sites including NGK's they are discontinued. I tried using an application for the RC12YC. The Dodge Magnum 5.2 uses them and NGK's site crossed them to V-Power FR4 (5155), G-Power FR4GP (2685) or Iridium IX BKR4EIX (5693). Do any of these ring a bell?

Well that stinks... It wasn't that long ago I bought them at Autozone... An Autolite 3923 would be a rough equivalent in heat range, and exactly the same otherwise, if that helps with cross referencing.
ETA you can also use the 6962 stock number if that helps. A brief search showed them still listed, I didn't check actual availability.
In stock several places online, Summit, Napa, Advance, and NGK, which didn't say discontinued.

That should be a 3/4" reach 5/8 plug with a gasket.

I generally go to the Autolite 3923's or 4's for that application.

I think the 12yc would cross to a BKR5E. Or Autolite 3924.

Dad is running NGK's in his aluminum head Pontiac, same reach plug with gasket. I'll check what part number that is.

That would be good info. I actually think there are several versions of the same heat range, and physical dimensions. At least at one time there were. Different suffix could get you a different gap etc. Mine (BKR6E) come at slightly under or right at .030 gap. But there was one that came with either .040 or .045 gap that had a -11 suffix I think. (Fuzzy memory) There's possibly been some downsizing of variants. I don't mind opening the gap from .030. With my coil per cylinder arrangement, I just put them in where they were factory gapped. HEI or MSD could use .045 instead. The 6 heat range is supposed to be a step colder than the 3924 Autolite, or 12yc Champion. They stay cleaner in my opinion than the 3924 Autolite I ran for many years, even though they're colder. They're easier to read the heat range on due to their material being a lighter color. The strap coloring looks good on mine with 10.4 compression and aluminum heads. As always results will vary...

I think those are considered the "Racing" version. The 7 heat range I "think" crosses over. Those would be good for the AC 43 asked about earlier.
ETA I can't see clearly in the pic, but I think those are NON projected tip, whereas the ones I referenced do have a projected tip.

Yes I believe those are the racing plug version. It's what Tony Bischoff stuck in the engine when he dynod it 6-7 years ago and dad has been running them since.
You are correct they are non projected tip which doesn't thrill me. I'd much rather have the projected tip plug in it. That's what I run in everything else.

I gap these at .035

Autolites are now made in China and have a different appearance than the older versions.
I used to run the 3924’s but like Ngk 5 heat ranch for lots of idling, stop n go driving and 5 or 6 for track days.
