Default After market tilt column

Has anyone here used an after market (Flaming River, Ididit etc) tilt steering column in a 1962-1964 full sized Pontiac? If so what did you use and what had to be changed? I can't find a good original and people want almost as much for a worn out one as the new ones cost. They list one for an Impala. Are they very different? I know that the wiring has to be modified but I would like 4 way flashers anyway.

A '63 Chevy tilt starts at about 2500!

For what's it worth. I went with a flaming river tilt column in my 67 Firebird. I would recommend keeping the rag joint instead of using their universal however. Other then that I've had zero problems with it. I didn't have to change anything it was a direct drop in. I just had to weld the mounting tabs from the original column so it bolted in like stock.

A new Impala tilt is just over $500. I wasn't asking about an original.
Thanks for the info on the Fbird but I have a full size car.

Where are you finding bolt in Impala tilts for that?

Anyone know if the aftermarket stuff has a collapsible column or functionality like a '67 A body?

George

Don't know, but I'd be surprised if it didn't have "modern" safety features.

They do. I have the tilt from Ididit for a 67 LeMans and I dropped it and sheared the pins for the column. They did send new pins
