1960 389 engine Offy intake manifold
Heres my question, hope someone can help me out, Does anyone know the Offenhauser part number for the correct intake manifold that would fit a 1960 389 pontiac engine(single 4 bbl carb). And also, what years did the engine stay the same as far as manifolds are concerned.
also If anyone has a part number info on the Tri -power manifold for the same years. I spoke with someone about this a while back, but lost the sheet of paper where i jotted the information down. |

I don't have part numbers handy but a direct fit would be 59 & 60.....not to sure about a 56-58 intake working out. You should also be able to use a 61-64 intake if you plug the water by-pass hole in the intake with a pipe plug...as long as they are not SD heads...

60 shark, some info for you. looking in my catalog i see no 4bbl intake for that year, in fact only 65 and up. dual quad #5707 55-64, tri power #5028 thru 60 for small stromberg 3 bolt or small rochester 4 bolt drilled when ordered, #5161 tri power 61-64 again small carbs, #5255 tri power thru 60 large 4 bolt rochester, #5256 tri power 61-64 again large carbs. call dan marvin 559-592-2707,he has a carquest supply store exeter auto supply who can get you parts direct from offy. his grandfather was an engineer for offy 1954-86. still consults (Ollie Morris? i never pried) competitive price and if the item is in stock you will have the order in 2-3 days from so cal. if he has the time he'll get back to you with stock info and price within the hour. hope the helps.

1960 Shark, are you still looking for a 4 bbl Offenhauser mani for your 60 Pontiac? Have you thought about a Edelbrock intake? I have a Edelbrock EP4B single 4bbl manifold. It has both sets of water inlet holes. You block off one set for 55-60, or block off the second set for 61-64. Jack

Thanks for the info, I tried for an Offy to no avail, So edelbrock it is. Gotta do something to "dress up" the engine.

Offenhauser did not offer a single quad intake for the pre-1965 heads. They did offer a plethora of dual quads and tripower intakes. The website listed below summerizes the various A/M offering of multiple carb manifolds for Pontiac:

Hey- moderators- have a look at post#7.
Maybe the PY forums membership process should include a quick-quiz: "Do you know a Pontiac from a hole in the ground?" Bill- no offense, man... but your posts never got that bad! I've had some machine-translated owner's manuals from the far-East that were worse, though...

I would NOT click on the link in that #7 message. You do not know what it is going to do to your computer.
