Default Muscle Car Illustrated Gu

This past weekend I bought A book titled Muscle Cars An Illustrated Guide. After reading the introduction, I'm not sure it's worth going any further.
Talking about when the Muscle Car era begin. " some say it was the launch of the 1964 Ford Thunderbird". I've never heard that before. Then it goes on to give the GTO credit for starting it. It states the Goat was based on A Tempest Saloon. Maybe there was a Tempest Saloon, that I'm not sure of. The next two statements I'm sure are incorrect. Still talking about the 64, " neat styling touches, including stacked front headlamps". This next quote really left me shaking my head. "GM stopped officially selling GTOs shortly after it's launch because of concerns over public image, the Pontiac dealer network was a little less nervous, and continued to build up GTOs from stock Tempests".
I'm happy to be out only 8 dollars for this 320 page book of misinformation.

With the word 'saloon' in that sentence I assume it was written by someone from Europe?

I think you should print installments here as daily humor therapy, I liked the first!

A dealer modified Tempest Saloon that is now a GTO. I have one. Is it rare?
