Recently found a 69 Judge Convert with a SR block, RAIII heads, RAIV intake & Carb. It was originally ordered as a RAIII, but story is motor blew within 6 months and owner wanted to upgrade, so got a RAIV SR block with all other RAIV pieces. Don't know if this story is true as I have no way to verify it. He did not have dealer documentation either, although he says he can find it.?

Somewhere along the line the RAIV heads were removed, and the original RAIII heads substituted.

So what to build it as??? Hmmmmm..

Is was commonplace to have a RamAirIV block used as a SR block on a original RamAirIII.

It was white. That's the main reason I traded it.Didn't like white interiors. Now I wish I kept it.

It was plain jane. AM radio,no console for shifter. No power brakes.

Silver Judge, yes there was one for sale on consignment in the Twin Cities for a while. Needed everything (metalwise) replaced. Engine and drivetrain looked original. Asking price was $11,000 (nowhere near that).

Hi HELD FOR RANSOM,
Hmmm, i have info that indicates my Silver Judge was at one time owned by a man in Jordan, MN
It's my understanding that it was in Iowa Falls, IA originally. Now, was the Judge you remember carrying a red interior and when was this? I have pictures of my car before restoration and sheet metal was fine with the exception of driver's side front fender and just below the rear window

Here comes da Judge

Yes, the man was from Jordan, MN. When I looked at it, 2 yrs ago, it was being sold through Hooked on Classics (in Watertown, MN) and the asking price was $11,000. All the sheet metal, as far as I was concerned, needed lots of massaging or replacement. Even the rear bumper was dented and taillights were broken. But, the engine and drivetrain looked to be all there and untouched.

Hello Again Held for Ransom,
Wow, you either saw the car I know own or it's some strange coincidence. The Silver #s matching car I now own was bought and restored by a WA state guy from a man named Schmidt in Jordan, MN. I have the before pics and although the body needed paint, there was only one dent in one of the doors. We went through the car with a fine tooth comb post restoration over a two day period. All other body panels fine, except for rust on one fender and under rear window. These were patch paneled. The bumper wasn't dented and the taillights are original. Anyway, the car is now fresh as can be and back on the road. I'd be interested in talking to the Hooked on Classics people regarding its origin and if possible the owner before them. You know how to reach them?
Thx, Silver Judge

Here comes da Judge

Greetings All,

Just picked up our Judge yesterday. It's a 1971 in Tropical Lime w/Jade interior. Here are some of the options; Automatic trans,Hood tach, Rally Guages, Rear Speaker, Ride and Hanfling Package, Front and Rear Floor Mats. The car needs a total restore, but is 90% complete. It is missing the air cleaner, intake and carb. This will be a project car for my son as he is starting HS next year and they have an excellent auto program.

Back in 1989, I bought a rotting carcus of a 70 Judge, no mtr or trans, interior trashed, rust & damage on every body panel. Nothing of any value on the car except that the rear spoiler was absolutely perfect. Thought it was a little odd that it had manual steering & manual drum brakes. Did the PHS and it was a legit RAIV, CR 4spd, HD Posi Judge. Only other options were gauges & hood tach. It was Granada Gold with Sandalwood Interior. Only kept it a short time. Last seen on a trailer heading for the Syracuse, NY area in the Summer of 1989. Anyone ever see it up in that area?

My 1969 was originally triple black. It was repainted in carousel red when someone stole the hood tach and spoiler. The car is heavily equipped and fairly original besides paint.

1969 RAIII, carousel red/black vinyl top, black interior, 3 speed auto, pb, ps, hideaways. It is PHS documented and nearly 100 percent original. I have yet to see another carousel red/black vinyl top car at a car show or on a pic site, though I think a member here has one. The UltimateGTO site does not have one pictured, even. The only thing that kills me is why Pontiac ever put an open rear end in a car like this. I know its been asked a million times before.........
Hope to have it restored before I retire, somewhere around 2033.

I do know of another RA-IV 70 Judge with the tu-tone body colors, not sure of interior color.
Email me and I will get more info if you want.

jagjr, looks like your Judge was produced at the Pontiac plant. Box 62, 1-springs-shocks had to do with the ride and handling package (UPC-Y96, 621). Box 70, 1-H.D. RAD. (UPC-V01,701). Sorry, I don't know what Box 74, 2 implies.
