Default 66 gto blinkers

drove 66 for first time today after putting together. turn signals don't self cancel should they? didn't have a steering wheel on it when i got it so don't know if some parts are missing?

The turn signal lever will self-cancel if installed correctly and not broken.

They should cancel, possibly the cancel cam was left out, usually they cancel on at least one side if cam is still there.
Google 66 GTO turn signal cancel cam and you should be able to see if you left it out.

As mentioned yes the Turn Signals should cancel (Turn off) when the turn is completed.

You may luck out and find that the Cancelling Cam was not installed or the more common issue of broken ears on the Cancelling Actuator on the turn signal switch itself.

The good news (Sort Of) is they make a repair piece for the latter.

Not that its the case here, but with a fast steering box and a (too) small aftermarket steering wheel my 66 won't cancel (even with a new switch signal).

I don't know how either of those things would have an impact on the cancel cam in the steering column.
