Default Carpeting question

How far underneath the pedals does the carpet go? Should it go under the 'steering column cover'? How about the gas pedal mount, does it go under that or over? Any good photos to share? Measure twice, cut once.
Thanks

Not sure what's correct, but I tucked my carpet until the firewall insulation pad. I just thought it looked cleaner.

My original carpet goes under the steering wheel cover and the gas pedal mount too.
