Default 1971 - 72 GP Gardner Exhaust System

I finished installing the new Gardner exhaust last weekend and just took some new photos and a video sound clip today.

I've always assumed that the '69 - '72 tailpipes were the same (excluding the '69 TH400 cars with resonators). When I went to install the new left side tailpipe, I noticed it was short out the back and didn't clear the lower edge of rear bumper like the originals. I then compared my original to the new one and found out they were different lengths. I also verified that the part numbers were different in the Pontiac MPC.

I then spoke with Eric Gardner and sent him some photos and measurements to correct the tailpipes. He made a new set and shipped them to me promptly. The new tailpipes fit perfect and exit below the rear bumper just as they should. Eric is great to work with and he absolutely wants it to be correct. So for you '71 - '72 GP guys that would like a factory correct exhaust for your GP, Gardner Exhaust has it.

Attached are some new photos and a sound clip that I posted on YouTube...

Great outfit, I've got 8 of those tiger glasses so I guess I've done at least 8 Gardner installs! Every one went in perfect, sounds absolutely factory and was a pleasure to bolt in! I've never done a GP with them as they didn't do HO cars (69) because they didn't have factory originals but I understand they now offer a long branch system as well.

That's a lot of glasses, John! This was just my third system, but the first for a GP. Yes, Gardner has the '69 to '72 systems fully covered now. Keith Vrabec got the HO system done a few years back sending them some NOS headpipes to copy. They are the best!

Great to know! Looks awesome. Will definitely get this for the 69. That 71 is stunning!
