Default Anybody help ID'ing this restoration shop?

I put a thread in Members helping Members but I thought I would ask here too, anybody have any idea who this shop might be?

https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=855221

I can post more pictures of their grounds/interior/etc if it could help. I didn't get any info except a restoration folder with pix, no data.

Thanks!

Default Shop looks familiar

I will be following this thread closely since we have a very similar storyline. My car also came with pictures of a complete frame off restoration however the pictures in a binder were not dated and there were no notes or any details or log info to go alone with the pictures. I do have an original signed appraisal from M&M automobile appraiser’s that was done back in July 1993 shortly after the restoration that shows mileage at 544 miles at that time. The car was at 14th Annual GTOAA International Meet in Indianapolis, Indiana. This picture is my car on a cradle and may be sitting close to the office you point out including shelves with what appears to be the same photography attached to the wall. Connecting the dots from shop records I have for tune ups and general maintenance have my car restored in the earl 1990’s.

Wow, Bob, I knew this would work! That is absolutely the same shop. I have photo that matches that corner office space exactly (two doors, cinder block to the left, shelving to the right), plus the yellow car dolly is in another one of my shots.

Same info delivered to me: black folder with photo pages, no dates, no notes, handwritten "65 GTO Black" on spine.

I have 10 more photos I can post.

So, any info from your appraiser as to what shop this could have been? Agreed my restoration must have been longer ago than 2011, that was the last purchase receipt/changing hands I have, I'll be working to call prior owners soon for more info. The car is in such great shape it must have been sitting in a collection for quite a while since the restoration, so I assumed it was more recent.

I did a full color correction, protective film application, and ceramic coating to the car to keep it protected in the Florida sun, and all the paint looks brand new. It arrived with the expected swirls from likely wiping down over the years.

Lets compare more notes! I'll post the 10 more pix this weekend in two posts.
Thanks!
Randy

Default Same Shop foe Sure

Randy
Agree our cars were restored at the same shop and may have been worked on around the same timeframe. I have about 40 pictures and most of them were taken inside the building during various stages of disassembly / reassembly. Also have some pictures of the car complete and at events or car shows. I have phone numbers and names of previous owners however the numbers are no longer in service more than likely land line that have been disconnected. The shop definitely tailored their work around GTO’s because there are several 65’s in the pictures and one of them is a vert that was close to being complete that had Hurst wheel with red line tires and “dum roll please” what looks like Irish Mist paint. Now that may get some attention. I believe the owner of the car at that time was a collector and may have owned the convertible as well. He lived in Arkansas and the car lived there for many years. Before that it was in California and its a Fremont, California built car. I would really like to know details on the engine build but for now I have been sorting things out and have been able to get it running good.

Great pix, very interesting, I hope others see this and can chime in on this shop.

Agreed, an Iris Mist 65 Fremont convertible certainly gets attention!

And great to see your 64 Coupe in black also. Here is a current-day picture of my 65.

Good discussion and nice to learn that Bill was there with his awesome 64 convertible and more than likely took home all the awards. Bill I know your car is over the top, my car is what I would call an honest and nice car that has held up nicely over the past 30 years. Randy my car is a factory Nocturne Blue car however I’m not sure if its painted the exact color it had when it was delivered to the dealership. It looks very blue in the direct sunlight but flops to almost black at night. I’ve attached the 1994 appraisal that describes the car after the restoration and it is basically the same now only 30ish years older. Also I love your car the stance and wheels are perfect, I looked for a long time for that combination but never found it good luck.

Bob, appears the owners at the time of the appraisal of your '64 GTO were local to Ron Hamm's shop, in Rogers (or Springdale) Arkansas.

Was at '93 Indy Nats, had a decent size spread in the swapmeet. Fairly strong thunderstorm came in either the first or second evening around 6:00 pm & my big canopy was a bear to tear down. Remember Bill's beautiful '64 GTO convert, Mark H (believe it was ) his dark blue '73 GTO, & a few others.

'65 wise, Ron Hamm had a Iris Mist convertible at the show. It was lacking it's interior & was near the swap meet area. Rolling business card? Milt R, believe it was, showed up with a SEMI with several restored GTO's including a '69 Judge.

Wow they did great work! My car was factory gold with gold interior, but by the time I bought it in 1980 it had already been converted to black with black interior, so when they did the refurb they (or the owner?) decided to keep it that way and also added a black vinyl top. One thing I didn't like is they changed the trim tag to match the black/black combo, but my dealer had the "correct" replacement trim tag with the original gold/gold etc, so I put that back on the car. I'm not trying to fool anybody.

Thanks for taking the time and without a doubt answering the original question on where the work was done. 95% of the information I have is from the long time owner who lived in Roger’s Arkansas and most of the maintenance records including where the carburetors were rebuilt were in the Roger area. Also my complements to you on your ability to recall with great detail the 93 Indy National. Several pictures in my information book were taken either during or after the thunderstorm you described. Also I found a date and initials stamped on the upper heater hose that may have better put there by the shop who rebuilt the engine.
Regards
Bob

This must be the same 65 Iris Mist convertible with no interior. These pics are from the POCI Nats in Ohio in 1991.

Just found the shop! Ron Ham's Classic Auto Shop

2114 Little Flock Drive, Rogers, AR is the address

https://www.google.com/maps/place/21...!4d-94.1477177

This shows the building on Google Maps, same front with two rollup doors and two "regular" doors in the middle.

I've tracked down two phone numbers and left VM's to see if Ron is still around.

Well, I left messages before the holidays on both numbers and no replies yet. Anybody know any current history on Ron Ham?
