Yes, pretty sure he put a 481X motor in it early last year.

For sure a Proline engine vs the KRE Engine. Not sure if Hemi or 481X.
Do not follow that manufacturer much.

I follow the Noonan race engines out of Spartanburg SC.

Tom V.

Good luck to Tommy with his engine and program.

Guess he wasn't doing too bad with the Pontiac.....a Pontiac is only going to take you so far!
Yes it has a hemi, unless he has changed recently .

The main thing I noticed is he had the car sorted out and made a really nice pass on the 3.82 run. Bet he wouldn't be off that number much with the poncho motor

The different lists say about 6.36 on the ET but that number is years old.

Hard to say what his actual BEST quarter mile times have been.

Its funny most of the street racers (Daddy Dave, Murder Nova, Ryne Martin) ALL have BIG ports in their cylinder heads.....what do they all have in common they are all quicker then Chief, that's why Chief doesn't run NPK he can't keep up anymore. Turbos can only help so much......LOL!

When he (Chief) raced at Indy in the Crow Mod Firebird, I believe he ran a 3.99, 1/8th mile, 5-6 years ago. He made the field, but he was near the bottom on the qualifying list. The current GTO is heavier than the Crow Mod is, so no idea of what this car is capable of, with the same basic engine combination he's been running for years.

Most anyone that's currently running NPKs doesn't have any stock style engines any longer, from what I've seen on the show. Every engine is race bred origins.

I've even noticed that JJ has been slowly switching from production based engines. I believe his latest blue Nova (Hummingbird) has a hemi in it.

I know you want the Pontiac to be competitive with the hybrids but it isn't gonna happen! Pontiac may be close but it can't compete...even if it was right there, parts avaliable and consistency would keep it from being competitive..
You could smoke a proline on Saturday and have parts overnighted for Sunday.

The same "heavy chassis" (Palbykin's Judge striped GTO), Ran 5.80s in the quarter at Tucson with a BAE Supercharged Engine. So the chassis is not
the reason why Chief is slower vs the others (according to a few here).

That chassis is long gone the only thing left of Marty’s car is some of the sheet metal!

Justin had a comparable chassis to everyone else... he just didn't have the hp..
Justin's strength is his ability to read a track and tune it for an a-b run...

I said it was heavier than his other car, I never said, or alluded to, that it was a poor chassis.

You're an engineer, so is lighter usually faster? Given the engine, and traction were comparable between the two.

I'm well aware that he is outclassed in torque and HP by cars he would be competing against in NPK, if he were to run in that series.

Marty's GTO chassis was a double tube chassis. If the chassis under the car is still a double tube PRO MOD chassis then that chassis is NOT long gone.

Easy enough to confirm that deal. Simply look at the chassis.

The pics I see on the web still show the double tube chassis.
