I am doing a full suspension upgrade including rear disc conversion. The kit has an upgrade option for black or red powder coated calipers ($65 for the pair which sure seems steep!). I checked my fronts, and while functional, I may just replace them with matching powder coated units.

I see a lot of cars with the red calipers and am not sure I like the look since it screams import, so I guess black is beautiful. Car is a black '71 GTO with 17" chrome 5 spokes.

How do you guys feels about the red vs black or would you just leave them au naturel with a high temp clear coat?

I would either paint them black or cast iron (charcoal) gray.

You haven't thought of going to either O'reilly Auto or Auto Zone in the paint (high temperature) for the brake caliper? I bought some awhile back (both a primer that's high temperature and the brake caliper). Must have spent about $20 to $25. If it gives out, you can do it yourself & not have to leave it someplace & cover over the other suspension components.

Did this on a '77 Skylark & they came out great. Paint still held up a year after the paint job & looked great. Sold the car, so I don't know how it is now.

On your black car with the aluminum/silver colored wheels I'd go with either gold or red.

Nothing wrong with a little color contrast to add some interest.

O.Z. Racing Ultralegerra, 18X9", 20.8 pounds, one-piece cast aluminum. Probably the lightest cast aluminum wheel you could find in that size, the shape of the spokes allow them to clear the large C6 Z06 six and four-piston calipers. I have the same size wheel front and rear with 245/40 and 275/40 tires.

Thinking about this too. I had done a quicky paint my front calipers, rotors/hubs and drums about 5 years ago with just a quick spray of Rustoleum Stainless Steel. That paint has held up perfectly even though it wasn't even a heat paint. I think I'll go the paint route. If I use the caliper paint, it should be good.
