Chassis are getting pricey, even when they don't roll

Curious.

So...what's the deal with frames? Does the seller have to verify that the partial VIN stamp (if not unscrupulously ground off) does not belong to a stolen (or salvage title) vehicle?

Well - Roadster Shop chassis’ that are brand new and shiny can cost that much. Original ones, not so much.

I don't blame you one bit. I wouldn't want to get near it. You might catch more than just tetanus from it. And To advertise as a "Great GTO Clone".. they should be shot for that, or turned in to Craigslist. To me it's way past restoring. Looks more like junk looking at anything inside the body.

Good luck getting six thousand for that frame. These guys have them blasted and powdercoated for under 2 grand.

Default Good lookin’ ‘55

Looks nice. Can’t figure out if he added doors from a 2 door or used the smaller 4 door front doors. Came out really good anyway.

Real 2 doors are longer and the post is very near the low spot. This is a 4 door car with rears doors welded/smoothed over. Here is a 2 door post for comparison.

I didn't even read the ad until after posting. Duh! Here was the disclaimer in ad... "*** Note: Full disclosure is made that this vehicle was originally a four door"

How many 55-57 Chevy's could benefit from this treatment?

I could be wrong, but after reading the ad that says the 1/4's have been replaced, and looking at pictures of 4-door sedans on line, it looks like on 4-doors the B pillar is forward of the top of the front seat back, and on 2 doors it is slightly behind the top of the front seat back. Like the car in the ad.

Its hard to be sure by the angle of the posted pictures. But I think 2 door dorrs were used,

I actually like the car, its alot of driver for the asking price

This is the biggest red flag! I think the seat is moved all the way forward in this picture. Also compare it to the picture I previously posted of a 2 door. Not to mention go back to the ad in which states the car was made from a 4 door!

There are several You Tube videos out there of people that have done this conversion, interesting to watch, but don't think I want to own one that was completed.
