I just used some of Torque Tech's mandrel down pipes that go to the HO/RA manifolds on a second gen TA. Good fit no crimp. Did have to "clearance" for the shifter to column lock linkage. Rest of the system was 2 1/2 head pipes(I reused an old system that was almost identical to the Torque Tech mandrel head pipes)Dynomax offset inlet center outlet Super Turbos and Dynomax's mandrel bent tailpipes. Good fit on all. Now I just need some real 2 1/2" TA splitters.

Skip, are the downpipes 2.5"? Are they a universal fit for F & A bodies? I was thinking of getting rid of my headers and going back to the RA manifolds. How much do you think I'll lose on a low 12 sec car?

Thye are 2 1/2 and I think for F and A bodies. They fit well but did have to dimple for the shifter/column lock linkage.

Skip,
Can you tell me more specifics your exhaust manifolds and motor because I'm in the process of picking up some 68 or 69 HO exhaust manifolds to bolt onto the 350 in my 71 bird. I am still concerned about fit and function. I was also wondering if you were using the torque tech down pipes to connect to a Dynomax system. I have some old Dynomax 2.25 headpipes and super turbos from my 80 Camaro(they were header back) that I would like to reuse if possible. After that I was thinking about getting some custom tailpipes with tips bent up similar to the appearance of a Flowmaster system. More info would be a huge help. I've been losing sleep over what to do for my exhaust. Also any prices or problems you encountered would be great to know about too. I think I've covered most of what I had to say. Thanks, Dan [This message has been edited by danfandango71 (edited 02-18-2001).] |
