Default Pontiac Heaven Drags- California June 14-5

With all that is going on with the drag strips in the Phoenix area, I have moved this years racing portion of the event to Barona Drag Strip near San Diego. We will run 2 evenings June 14 and 15.
Friday night, June 14 will be warm ups, test and tune and cruise in car show. Gates open at 4pm and racing starts at 6pm.

Saturday, June 15- more test and tune, cruise in car show and eliminations. We will run 3 brackets- elect, non elect and trophy. Gates open at 2pm and racing starts at 4pm.

In addition, I will be running other programs. If your car is applicable, you can run in more than one show if you want to-
Friday will also be the F body VS Mustang Shoot out
Saturday will be the Nostalgic Show & GO!

We are hoping to run 1 or 2 annual events at Barona if things go well. I am also working on putting together a race series consisting of 3-5 races a year and those participating will earn points towards the championship.

We have all waited long enough, let's go racing!

Please tell you friends and fellow racers.
More info coming.

If you have questions or wish to contact me, either-
1. post here
2. email me direct
3. or call me

I hope I can make it. The race in Oregon is June 9th, and then I am going to visit some old friends in Idaho - Boise and Twin Falls. It will be close.

We all hope you can make it too Jim. Perhaps you could visit before the Tiger run? just a thought.

Either way, please help me get the word out.

I do plan to attend the race at Barona one week from this Saturday and start handing out flyers there.

Barona is practically in my back yard! I can hear the cars run from my shop. Definitely putting this on the calendar as a must attend.

Hi Keith, That's great. I could use help from you or anyone who would like to help me. If anyone is interested, please call or email me.

Here is the 2 day schedule-

Friday, June 14
gates open 4pm
racing starts 6pm

Main event-
F body vs Mustang Shoot out! ( we are hoping many Firebirds will represent Pontiac on this ).

Also-
*Pontiac Heaven ( Pontiac power only ) test and tune, possible warm up bracket if we have car count. Cruise in car show
* Nostalgic Show & GO! ( 1981/older ) test and tune, possible warm up bracket as well.
* open test and tune for all the rest

Saturday, June 15
Main events-
*15th annual Pontiac Heaven ( drag racing portion ) for real Pontiac powered only. elec, non elec and trophy, Cruise in car show.

* Nostalgic Show & GO! ( 1981/older) elec, non elec and trophy plus A/FX!
* we will also run open test and tune as time allows.

Special thanks to all my sponsors who have stuck with me in this trying year. We will make the most of it and end up better off.

My intentions are to start a 3-5 race a year series.
There will be one for Pontiac Heaven racers ( Real Pontiac power only ), and another for Nostalgic Show & GO! racers ( 1981/older).

We'll see how this event runs at Barona. I will need decent participation, car count and spectators. If this happens, I will likely run there anually or, perhaps, twice a year.

These race series are intended to draw interest in Pontiac powered racing and Nostalgic racing by having multiple events and a points system. Some of the pieces are in place, others have yet to get there but, I am working on it. It is important that I am supported ( racers and specators alike ) for this to happen. Please tell your friends and encourage them to attend.

Sure wish I could attend. With it being Fathers' Day on Sunday, it is going to be a big family weekend...no to mention High School graduation for my nephew.

Barona is a nice 1/8 mile place to race...

That's great news!

Also, if you, or anyone else, is planning to be there at Barona this Saturday, I will be there for my first time looking things over, meeting the staff and getting ideas.

Steve,

Just got back from two weeks in Scotland (cold and rainy and it felt good!) and will be driving over to NM this week and have a doctor's appointment on Monday AM right after the race, so we probably won't be able to make it, but that could change.

Meanwhile, save me a flier, too. I'm always honored to line up across from OMT!

Jim

Will do to both of you!

Last Saturday, I had a nice drive out to Barona and back. I was impressed with the facility and the people as well. Looking forward to working with them and, possibly, running events there annually.

Here is a file pic from a past Pontiac Heaven drag race-

Make plans to attend June 14 and 15 at Barona!

We are a little better than 2 weeks away for Pontiac Heaven at Barona! Remember, we will also be running the Nostalgic Show & GO! that welcomes all 1981 and older.

For Pontiac Heaven racers, you can run in both programs if you choose to.
Nostalgic classes- elec, non elec, trophy and A/FX. There has also been interest in a heads up class or 2. I will accomodate heads up racers if we have at least 8 cars to enter.

This is also a great value for spectators as you get to see both shows together. We are going to have a good time running in so cal in a few weeks!

Special thanks to our fine list of event sponsors, please support them!
