Thanks for the help Sunday. Found the issue tonight.
Lost the head off a new Ferrea Valve. Got wedged back up in the valve opening and took the piston, head and block with it.

Aw man, that sucks. Doesn’t sound like a good weekend for you or Ray. Time to build a bigger/better bullet.

Well I thought this was gonna be the bigger/better one.
This was a fresh build with new heads, cam, lifters, pistons.

Got 2 1/2 weeks to get another one built for the Atlanta Race.

My honest guess was a valve seat. That sucks. Sorry.

That really sucks! I'm sorry to see it. Let me know if I can help in anyway. We have quite a bit of 4" stroke stuff in stock or might be able to dig up something that's useable.

I am almost afraid to post this here because of how you guys debate stuff but I guess I can ignore the bully’s.
Once we know what happened for sure I will post but it is more than likely “not” things seen in the video. To long to go into details now since it’s all speculation till we get the car on a lift.

Either way we were lucky. 20 years I have never touched the wall or another car and now we both scrape and hit the wall in the same weekend.

Car is not as bad as it looks we think we can make Atlanta. If anyone has a lead on bumpers we need a trans am front bumper 1998-2002. And a firebird rear 1998-2002.
This could have been a lot worse. Hood had a small scratch on the edge. Fenders made it through also

Glad it isn’t hurt too bad (and you are fine). Now that that is out of the way, wishing you another 20 years of safe racing.

Mike Bowie that owns the reef turquoise 65 had a neat story. His dad bought the car new and raced it in NY on the 60's. Mike inherited the car in 1982. Had pictures of him in the car as a young kid when they got it new in 65.

Glad to hear that the car is fixable.

Did an axle break? Throttle stick?

Hope you get it fixed for Atlanta.

Thanks Mike.

This was a fresh engine. Only had 7 passes on it when it went south. Last short block had 800 passes and still looked new when I took it apart for a refesh. Guess I should have left it alone. Didn't think a new Ferrea valve would break.

Gathered all the stuff to day for a rebuild.
