Yes the Ram Air was part of the WS6 package. I sold these back during that period and that's the only Firebird we would keep for stock. No other TA's, no other V8's , and God forbid any V6's.

I had a customer once want a V6 convertible with a certain package and there were none to be found anywhere. Our owner made me get a $5,000 deposit before I could order the car for her. It was a beautiful car when it came in and she was very happy upon delivery. She kept the car for at least 6 years and drove it very little.

When the WS6 rpo was revived in 1996, it was used for a package on the Formula Firebird and Trans Am;
The package consisted of the 'ram air' hood and corresponding intake components, as well as beefed up suspension with larger wheels.
The WS6 RPO remained that way through 2002.
(the suspension and wheels were watered down on the convertibles).

My wife’s 2002 TA WS6 has no WS6 emblem on the rear body and no WS6 on the wheel center caps. We bought it from the original owner, so I’m pretty sure that’s the way it came.

Has anyone else seen one like her’s?

My recollection is that the first year for WS6 convertibles, 1997, did not receive the "17 wheels or firmer springs and shocks. At the time I believe "cowl shake" from the firmer ride was the concern. By 1998 they had addressed that through some sort of additional reinforcement and the LS1 (1998 and up) all got the 17" wheels and firmer shocks/springs regardless of body style. Therefore nothing is watered down on your model year.

The convertibles had a limiter that wouldn't let it go over 120mph
