Thanks.

There are plenty of scammers out there, and we're seeing this ploy more and more often as time goes on...if you've placed a wanted ad on the board and get a private message from someone about it, check them out first before responding. If they're brand new to the board with very few or even zero actual posts, and they want you to contact their 'friend' offline, beware - it's almost certainly a scam. Send a note to me or to B-Man and we'll take care of them.

I have had it tried on me on PY more than once when you post looking for something. I almost feel for it the first time luckily I asked a couple questions about part and got a couple of generic answers that got me looking better at the post. Like Stuart said it’s always a buddy not on PY that has what you need.

Like I said, always let the moderators know when this happens so we can ban them.

I've needed / wanted to contact a moderator a few times but it ain't easy. No direct link to do so.

So how about getting a link installed to go straight to a moderator?

Make things a bit easier.

That's a good question for the site administrator - I don't know if it's something the board software can do or not. Other than sending a PM to me or B-man, another alternative would be to make a new post in the Lobby asking for use to contact you, and then after the post is made click on the Report button and report it (that little red triangle with the exclamation point in it, at the upper right of the post)...that way we will get an email directly.

Stuart, I just got a 'zero' post response to my parts wanted ad from a fk0. He sent a bad picture of a harness and red flags went up in my mind.

In 2008 Stuart really helped me with the exhaust system on my 64 Bonneville. He went out in the cold and took photos of his exhaust system so my friends at Mineke had something to work with. It turned out very nice... The manager at Mineke asked me for copies of those photos. He said he was going to get his web designer to measure and enter them into his exhaust pipe bender.

Thanks again Stuart.

Ha! I forgot all about that. The perils of an unheated garage in Minnesota.
