Default Front Valance Opening Chrome Mouldings

Hi, I just read about wheel opening and rocker mouldings, with good information there.
I did a search for "Front Valance Chrome Mouldings" but didn't see any previous posts about them. So were the chrome front valance mouldings standard or optional on 1970 GTO Judges?

According to the 1970 assembly manual not used on WT1 (TheJudge).
No UPC/RPO code on this trim AFAIK.

I'd have to double check, but I think my 70 judge has them (mines been apart for many years so I don't remember for sure).

I just was going through my stuff and mine does have the mouldings. Mine is an early Fremont car.

Looks like OrbitO over spray , how early is the car ?
11A is the reigning early bird OrbitO

Judges were not supposed to get those moldings , but numerous reports of original cars that did get them anyway .

Sorry Baron I didn't see this before. Mine is an 11D car. Also my car was resprayed in the early 80's, so the overspray could have been from that.

Clearly documented that Judges should not have these moldings but also clear that a lot of original cars had them regardless.

Yeah just have to decide if I'm going to run them or not.

I find the car looks better with them. Biggie for front end appearance in that area (Judge or regular GTO) is the black out paint on those protrusions on the bottom of the endura bumper, especially on light colored cars.

I read about those recently, but since mine was resprayed I guess I've never seen them.

It’s been well covered in threads on this site. It was supposed to be done on all cars but it seems it wasn’t actually applied to all 70 GTO’s. If you look at the valence air openings area on any 70 GTO in relatively light colors it becomes evidently obvious why it was done.

Yeah I found some info, but almost none that I see online have it. I assume restored incorrectly.

I’ve had several original paint bumpers over the years. Some had the black out, some didn’t.

Just an FYI, and I know it's not relevant to the OP, but I just looked and my car does appear to of had black nubs originally.
