73 F-Body female front seatbelt assembly
All,
Looking for a late 72-73 F-Body female front black seatbelt assembly, the one with the sleeve. I just need the one piece, but will consider more. I do not care if the buckle has exploded. The sleeve on mine is crumbling. Thanks |

Those look a little different, the buckles on some of them are definitely different. I “may” be interested if I cannot find the correct one.
Thanks for the quick reply |

If my memory serves me, the 1973 (and likely late-1972) used a thicker/hard sleeve for the front belts - this tends to become brittle over time.
In the following picture, the belt on the far left is probably what the OP wants (even though it's a 1974 with a thinner sleeve): I believe that the rear "female" belts (second and third from the left end) would work, but are lacking any kind of sleeve - and lack the seat belt buzzer wiring. The "male" belts front and centre and rear/right are the 1974 shoulder belts; For 1973 (and later 1972) the front belts still had a separate lap and shoulder belt, but unlike 70-72.5 there was only one female belt, and the lap belt had provisions to interlock the shoulder belt. I believe that the "male"belts centre/rear are rear set lap belts. I do not know what the belt is on the far right. I used to own a 1973 Formula that I found for my brother, but it's back in his possession; Shortly after he got it back on the road one of his belts popped apart, and I became acquainted with the term "exploding belts" - which these are. I believe that for 1975 the belts once again changed, and were essentially carried forward to the end of the second gen run.

Unrahjonny,
I agree the rear belts seem to have the same buckle. I only really need 1 correct sleeve. Thanks. |

The original molded plastic sleeves are nearly always missing. Still existent, they are often stress cracked. I'm setting in a similar situation on the front female belts for my late build '72 T/A, as well as late April 73 built T/A. Have pretty much decided to cut down a pair of new aftermarket molded plastic sleeves & use them on the '72. I've chased a few Irvin seatbelt components for the '72 for many years, & even being heavily networked, its not been easy.
BTW, exploding buckle style seat belts were not used in late '72 F-body's. The exploding buckle belts were, however, introduced in late 72 model A-body's. Have a complete set out of a super low mile 72 Lux LeMans parts car. Have also sold & traded off a BUNCH of exploding buckle style female belts over the years. At least two different suppliers actually made exploding buckle style belts for GM.

Is that one with the wire sticking out the sleeve you speak of?

that wire is a part of the seat belt buzzer system.

That system can go to heck...is that plastic thing surrounding it a sleeve?
Just curious. |

it can be annoying, but it's easy to defeat.
