Default 67 Chevelle Hood Fit My 66 GTO?

I think I know that answer but want to ask if there are any compatible hood replacements or substitutes for 66 GTO?

I know I can get a repop but want the quality of OEM. In the future I may install a dual quad tunnel ram setup and I don't want to cut my original hood.

Why Chevelle hood? There has to be as many 1965-67 Pontiac Tempest/LeMans hoods out there.

No, a '67 Chevelle hood will not fit on your GTO. Totally different shape.

If you're planning to cut the hood up anyway, just get a re-pop GTO hood.

Have you already got one? Because Pontiac tunnel rams aren't common, and they certainly aren't cheap. If money doesn't matter, the 65-67 flat hood is reproduced.

Get a Lemans/tempest hood - I have cut up and/or tossed a few over the years as they are virtually worthless on the used market.

Yes I have one already and bought it years ago. Thinking of a change and to use it. Yes, agree on repop.

As already stated above you’d be surprised at how cheap you can find ‘65 - ‘67 Tempest/Le Mans hoods for, usually from free to $100.

There’s always someone who’s swapped their flat hood for a GTO hood and just wants the old hood gone.

About 20 years ago I got a bunch of stuff out of someone’s way and took everything they were giving away, one of those ‘65 flat hoods, a complete ‘70 350 and a new set of 3-tube headers were some of the things I took home. On the same trip I scored a stock flywheel, a complete ‘65 3.23 open Le Mans rear and a nice 1” rear sway bar from another PY member along the way.

Even then it still cost me for the gas to do a 300+ mile round trip and a full day on the road, so free usually heavy or bulky parts are out there if you’re willing to do some driving.

a few years ago (probably 8!) I drove 200 miles to buy a nice original rear bumper off of a '65 LeMans parts car...because it had reverse lights. The original on my '65 had a trailer hitch welded to it and was bent, so in 1985 I had installed a nice bumper from a Tempest with no backup lights. I drove all the way out there (gas was half of what it is now or less) and not only scored the bumper, but the original airfoil radio antenna in mint condition, mint wiper arms, ands some small bits...inside rear mirror, etc. It was $150 for the parts, $40 for the fuel, and a day well spent. And my '65 has had working back up lights ever since!!!Click image for larger version

ID:	611726 I was going to clean up the area behind the bumper but after I wiped the frame rail with a rag and saw the original paint, decided to leave well enough alone.

I have a clean white, original '65 LeMans hood I'd sell.. Been holding onto it so I run my bathtub manifold with a scoop.

Hit me up this summer if you don't find one closer to you.
