7040271
Can anybody give me any information on this Carb? What engines did it come from the factory on? It's an odd # and not much is found out about it doing a search.
I am aware 7040274 is for 1970 high altitude small valve Pontiacs but I don't get many answers for 7040271 carbs. |

7041271 would be a 1971 High Altitude carb for a Firebird.
What is the date code and 'pick' code on the carb? Any pics?

That same application number ('271) was tested for 1971, but not used that year either. Both of these have popped up on eBay, but if you know what to look for, you can tell that they were Rochester division units used for testing. I would imagine that the 7040271 unit would use the same fuel bowl, airhorn, and throtte body as a 7040264/7040262 - but would have been set up with different metering for elevation.
