Default Same dates as GTOAA

Why did you schedule the POCI convention on the GTOAA dates? I am a member of both and can only attend one now. I know there was an agreement with GTOAA and POCI that the last week of June and the first week of July belonged to GTOAA.

my understanding is that it was related to the dates that the TN host hotel had open for us, very limited selection (maybe the only summer week available?)

But POCI had an agreement with GTOAA NOT to schedule on each others dates. No excuse. Find another location on a different date.

POCI not getting along with GTOAA is a joke. I’ve been a POCI member for 30 years and the best thing they ever did was check their ego at the door and have the Co-Vention.

After the dismal Dallas POCI I quit traveling for it. I will still support the club and pay my dues but if POCI wants to survive they need to realize this is one hobby and make the most of it.

Btw I am not a member of GTOAA - it’s just obvious there are better solutions than having the show the same week when you have a limited number of attendees.

Two clubs. May not like each other. Dwindling and dying membership in both. I have a great idea. Lets have both National Conventions on the same weekend, 405 miles apart. Brilliant. I think the Co-Vention in Dayton was one of the best since joining POCI in 1976. There had to be a way to separate these two events.

Where can we find a notional schedule for the 2023 POCI week? All I can find is "Monday-Saturday" and I can't find a previous year's event schedule as an example online either. I can't make it to Illinois for the GTOAA since I'll be in OK on June 26. Bummed I had to miss Kingsport.

Thanks.

How about a co-vention every year. One year POCI runs it- the next year GTOAA runs it. Is this idea just too easy?

Just a suggestion, but I think you're limiting attendance by not having the ability for concours cars to park indoors.

They should try co convention at Norwalk one year POCI on spectator side GTOAA on the other. Just the fact you could have fun runs all day would raise attendance. Large tents used at BJ and other events would work for the concours cars. The track is top quality and it would also provide camping if wanted another plus for many. Then in the future there are many top quality dragstrips that might be willing to host in years to come. Personally I’m not a member of either club but have been to both clubs events by far the best was the co convention. For the hobby to survive it has to be more than cars in a line to walk past and look at. Events need things to draw the hole family most people don’t find sitting in a chair for 3 days behind a car any fun. My2¢
