Default Sanden AC compressor on factory system

Curious if any of you have ever replaced the A6 compressor with a smaller Sanden 508 unit with the factory evaporator and condenser in place on any of your '74-'76 models? I have a VIR eliminator kit. I replaced the worn out remanufactured A6 a few years back with an off brand pro6ten unit. The compressor has been making noise at higher rpm for a while now. I could either install another one, go back with an A6, or install the smaller Sanden, like I have on the add on AC in my '66 Tempest Custom wagon with 455. I am wondering if I can use the smaller compressor and still get good AC output? Any thoughts would be appreciated. It does blow cold, about 38 degrees, but is very noisy.
