Brake proportioning valve
Hello,
I’m upgrading my 66 GTO to disc brakes off a ‘71 malibu. I have a proportioning valve from a ‘73 El Camino, disc/drum. I believe is a G-body. The rear brake cylinders are ‘66 GTO, I thing are a different diameter then the ‘71 Malibu. Can I use the ‘73 El Camino proportioning valve with this application? Should I look at adding an adjustable prop valve? Should I change out the rear brake cylinders to ‘71 Malibu, if it’s a different size. Pads, rotors, discs& hose are all new. Also new is the ‘71 master cyl & booster. (Don’t know the length of the pushrod) Do I have to educate myself better on Pascal’s Law ? Thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If originality/appearance is not a concern - I'd jump straight to an adjustable valve.
Prop valves are tuned for each individual application, varying the holdoff, meter, split and slope pressures, based on vehicle wheelbase, CG location, and piston/wheel cylinder diameters. Buying a random prop valve and expecting it to work is a bit like buying a random carburetor and expecting it to work, without knowing anything about the idle settings, jets or other tuning considerations.
