Default 1971 GTO rear window lower rollers failure.

while replacing the package tray on one of the '71s, I realized that both of the rear windows would not roll up correctly and upon inspection noticed that both of the lower window rollers had come apart with the inner nylon piece having seperated from the the metal stud that it pops onto. Then out of curiousity I looked at the other '71 and found it had the same problem on at least one of the rear windows. Have other owners of these had this problem and is it a weak spot on the window rollers or maybe a lack of lubricant over the years as the tracks are pretty dry. I ordered new rollers from AMES but would like to know how to prevent this from happening again.

I had 1 that was broken and replaced it and added lots of grease to all the channels. I think that is the main cause of failure, too dry and the vinyl wheels break due to friction
