Just wanted to share a cooling tip for those of us that are running without overflows/coolant recovery systems.

The tip is - GET ONE! It's so cheap and simple.

I mounted one from a mid-80s Caprice on the pass. fenderwell of my '66 Catalina. Fits and functions perfectly.

After all the trapped air burped out (took a few days), I noticed temps dropped from 5-10 degrees.

If you've tried everything and still can't get down in the 180-190 range, this may put you there - for less than the price of a happy meal!

Scott, Sounds easy - but why does it work? How does having the overflow tank keep the engine running cooler? - Jon

I am no expert on this but it may be because it removes all the air from the system. Since the liquid is what transfers the heat and not air, air in the system may lead to cavitation and inefficient cooling.
