It makes blue antifreeze, and as everyone in the modern world knows, blue is the most corrosive color in the spectrum.

Actually, I think red and green make brown. Brown is definately more corrosive than blue.

Unless you are color blind. Then mix what ever you want. Once you put the cap on it doesn't matter anymore.

In all honesty I think that mixing the red with the green cuts down on the life span of the red to the next time you pull the motor or change the antifreeze!?!? 5 yrs/100,000 miles for the red?!?! I have never had antifreeze in my car that long!!!!!!!!!!

when gm first introduced the red stuff they said to never mix it with the ethelyne glycol[green]. it creates an acid that will detroy the engine in time. mike

Antifreeze was developed to prevent cylinder blocks and heads from freezing and cracking in parts of the country that have extended freezing temperatures. In a warm climate the stuff is useless. They started calling it coolent so they could sell the stuff out west and in Florida. The stuff does give your system a somewhat higher boiling point but it is unnecessary unless your engine has a habit of over heating. The stuff also has some anti corrosives and water pump lubricant. Other products like water wetter can provide corrosion resistance and water pump lubricant. Coolant my friends is a marketing tool to get your money and is not necessary if you don't live in an area that gets really cold.
