Interior Color question
What color are the seat surrounds, backs and armrest bases on a ‘68 Lemans with Pearl (Parchment) interior. Is it a white or should they closely match the upholstery?
Thanks

Good question. Parchment colored plastics. But condition really matters!
White has been used to renew the pearlized white (parchment) plastic. Too harsh so an offwhite will help. We used Black sometimes to avoid the issues with exact match, and gain on contrasts. Makes great sense with the Black dashpad, black seatbelts, so then black kick panels, then black armrests and Bases. Grows to Black A-Pillars and headliner and vinyl Ceiling Perimeter. Howevers; Rear window vinyl trim just has to match the headliner color. Then Sail panels gotta match, and match onto the Door Panels. |

NYT ... if you do end up needing to paint ... try the paint from Original Equipment Reproductions .. IF they have your color in the house brand. It's pricey, and shipping is stupid high from Cali, but man is that nice interior paint. On my projects it required less than half as many coats as SEM products ... but they only have it in limited colors. Never saw anything match the Ivy Gold so well, or cover and stick so well.

I used SEM, and they got a full spread of our colors, but coverage took a few coats; that can flood the texture if you let it. Dried thin: dash and Steering wheel texture was excellent. Seatbelt paint was not good: took a few coats, and result was stiff; suppose it turned out well after flexing the belts. |

For SEM, I used super light coats to reduce the build and retain texture.
