Default Stefs 1240 Pan in First Gen Firebird

I’m planning on modifying my front stub to fit a Pontiac V8 In its stock location fore and aft. I am going to cut both of the stock crossmembers out and install 4130 Plate and 1-5/8” tube just inside of the factory control arm attachment points. I am installing a mustang rack so I have to install the mounts for it in one of the horizontal tubes that I will install. Of course, before cutting the subframe I’ll be adding some substantial bracing to keep it square as it was (not very). Yes I know camber is off, playing around with upper ball joints and haven’t used any shims. I’ll probably cut my own one-piece shims on my CNC machine.

Anyone modified their crossmembers and have photos of how much you took out?

I need clearance for a Stefs 1240 pan. Just wanted to get some dialogue going before I start fabrication. I’m using All Pontiac 3/16” steel front and mid plates and a Innovative Racecraft Chromoly TH400 Trans Crossmember with a Poly mount on the trans.

Also anyone have a trashed 1240 Stefs I could use for mock up?

I got mine in about 6 weeks and that was well after Covid started messing things up. Called Canton first but they could not make me a race pan at all due to Covid.
They guy who built them was out.

Mine was similar to this, added tabs so I could unbolt to remove pan in car.
Honestly don't even think I needed it, bolts slid in and out easily on the ground or on the lift.

I have a bolt in 1 5/8 bar for mine too. I've had it in and out 10 times. It slips in and out the same as it did the first time.

I keep it bolted in, but it's probably not necessary.

I have one as well, would be removable if I didn’t have to use so much gasket sealer! Haha

Also, what kind of socket did you use to put in the 4 recessed nuts. I had to use a belt sander and grind my socket down to almost nothing!

If you are talking about the ones under the plugs on the kickout side it takes a 1/4" drive set with long extension. 3/8 allen socket would not fit.
I had The Right Stuff all over and the 3/8" set would not fit. I had to scurry around and dig out 1/4" stuff before it dried.
Had a crank scrapper in there too. Would have been a mess if I had to disassemble and re do.
