Default Where to buy Electrical Connectors for Stock Wiring Harness

Anyone know to where to buy these special stock crimp connectors for wiring harness? Probably need a crimping tool also. I want to redo firewall harness in my racecar. There are some special needs. I moved alternator and battery to passenger side front. Why? Back 35 yrs ago, well trying to balance weight and keep starter side open. I set car to run stock back then.(kind of funny story at Norwalk getting car teched in,hoods open, inspector said lets see your trunk? He said wheres your battery up front,he said I didnt see it,I said check passenger side)I have a couple of used sets out of Pontiacs I scrapped. I want new wire.

My friggin' John Deere riding lawnmower uses Packard 56 connectors. The wires that power the PTO have broken at the connector multiple times, so I needed to put new wire and new P56 wire ends into the plastic connector body.

I got P56 connectors from Amazon. They're working OK, but I have trouble crimping the part that goes around the insulated section of the wire. I keep breaking-off one of the lil' ears on the P56 terminal.

Crimping the part that goes around the bare conductor is working great.

I probably need to use a different crimping tool.

For largely unprotected wires after a good crimp about a 1" long piece of proper size heat shrink over as much of the terminal as possible to take up some of the joint stress, not necessarily the main terminal body but the wire to terminal point, because shrink that will fit the main body of terminal wont constrict enough over the junction

You can even do a double heat shrink... slide on a small ID. piece for the wire junction then a larger piece over the terminal body that will constrict over the first sleeve that will provide double stress relief and cover the terminal body.

The heat shrink that has heat activated sealer in the ID. will be the strongest

Dont forget to slide the shrink tubing over the wire BEFORE the crimp

I often put a small drop of motor oil on my crimp connection for anti corrosion before i finalize with the heat shrink, doesn't hurt a thing and may help keep the connection happy longer

Thanks guys. I never explored on line for these connectors. Now for the wire and crimping tool. I have crimping tools for various wiring, home electrical, and spark plug wires.

I use the really nice ratcheting plug wire crimpers that have replaceable jaws (dies)
They have #56 terminal jaws (mine do) for different gauge wire and they do a nice factory looking job of crimping those terminals in one squeeze crimping both the wire portion and the insulated portion at the same time.

MSD sells that crimper as well as Accel and I'm sure others.
